Gold is an incredibly valuable resource in Diablo 4, but amassing lots of it can be difficult. Whether you’re refunding skill points, applying Legendary Aspects, or Enchanting your gear, you’re going to need quite a bit of gold as you progress through the game.
While there are tons of ways to get gold, you won’t be able to stick to just one and farm up tons of gold quickly. That said, below you can find a few of the best methods for farming gold, and some tips for doing so.
How To Farm Gold
The best way to farm gold is to simply sell every Rare (yellow) and Magic (blue) item that drops. Pick up everything, return to town when your inventory is full, and sell all your loot. Doing this, you will gain tons of gold, but you won’t be gaining any materials from salvaging.
This is a trade-off that you will have to decide if it’s worth it to pursue or not. If you desperately need gold and are stocked up on materials, then it’s definitely worth selling your loot. However, if your material supply is running low, it may be a better idea to salvage Rare items and sell Magic ones for profit.
Because you are essentially just selling items, you can technically farm gold by doing anything in the game that drops items. Below we’ll go over a few of the best activities that drop lots of items.
The following activities are all unlocked in the endgame of Diablo 4, after clearing the campaign. If you’re looking to farm gold before that, we recommend selling half of the loot you pick up, keeping the other half for salvaging.
Helltide
Participating in Helltide events is one of the best ways to gather items to sell. During the Helltide, the density of monsters is increased, and more monsters means more items. If you can, join a party to maximize your item drops as you run around the map killing enemies and getting tons of loot.
Plus, Helltide is a great source of other valuable materials like Forgotten Souls and even Legendary and Unique equipment. Be sure to participate in Helltide whenever it occurs.
Nightmare Dungeons
Nightmare Dungeons are another great way to amass a ton of items, especially in dungeons with high monster density like Champion’s Demise or Guulrahn Canals. Running the normal version of the dungeon works too, but you’ll get more loot when you upgrade it to a Nightmare one.
Tree of Whispers
Finally, completing objectives for the Tree of Whispers is another good way to get items to sell. Collecting Grim Favors for the Tree will have you completing a variety of different activities, all of which will drop items. Just be sure to head back to town frequently to sell off your loot!
