Similar to the real NFL, quarterbacks are the key to success in Madden 24. Having a quality signal caller will elevate any team but there are only a few quarterbacks who impact the game on unprecedented levels.
Only five quarterbacks in Madden 24 have X-Factor abilities, enhanced buffs that are activated throughout a game based on how well the quarterback is performing. We analyze what each of the three X-Factors do in the game and how each quarterback utilizes these X-Factors to dominate on offense.
3 Truzz
The majority of NFL quarterbacks either look to throw the football downfield, even force it in high coverage, or elect to throw it out of bounds. A few quarterbacks might even choose to absorb a sack instead of risking a pass attempt. However, a handful of passers have the special ability to break out of the pocket and gain yards with their legs.
Most quarterbacks don’t possess the ball-carrying skills that normal ball handlers have and are susceptible to fumbling the football when tackled. This X-Factor ability makes it impossible for quarterbacks to fumble while being tackled, allowing these passers to expand their game and become dual threats on the field.
Lamar Jackson
Only Lamar Jackson (91) of the Baltimore Ravens can tap into the Truzz X-Factor and make defenses pay with his legs. Jackson has the highest marks in speed (96), acceleration (96), and agility (95) among quarterbacks, so if the pocket collapses or if he realizes none of his receivers are open, he’ll simply tuck the ball in and sprint for yards.
When Truzz is activated, Jackson transforms into one of the most dangerous runners in the league. He has an exceptional vision (97) and utilizes his quick feet to spin (83) and juke (90) defenders. Without the fear of fumbling the ball, Jackson can take over a game with his arm and his legs, something that no other quarterback can do.
2 Run & Gun
When the defense manages to win the battle at the line of scrimmage and applies pressure on the quarterback, it forces the passer to scramble outside of the pocket. Moving to the outside extends the play and allows the receivers downfield to get open, allowing quarterbacks with the Run & Gun X-Factor to shine.
Naturally, throwing accuracy will drop when a quarterback throws on the run because their feet aren’t set and the physics of throwing a football offbalanced will result in an inaccurate pass. Quarterbacks with Run & Gun will have perfect accuracy attempting to throw passes on the run, allowing them to seek out open receivers when the pocket collapses.
Joe Burrow And Jalen Hurts
While Lamar Jackson is a true mobile quarterback, other quarterbacks who are also active in the pocket will still look to pass the ball instead of running immediately. Joe Burrow (95) and Jalen Hurts (88) are two of the best young quarterbacks in the league, both having reached the Super Bowl in the last two seasons.
Joe Burrow (95) and Jalen Hurts (88) have dual-threat capabilities and defenses should always be weary of their scrambling skills, but not in the same sense as Jackson. These two quarterbacks use their legs to extend plays and give more time for their receivers like Ja’Marr Chase or A.J. Brown to find an opening in the defense.
Although Burrow and Hurts don’t have the highest rating to throw on the run among quarterbacks, Burrow is the most accurate passer in the game while Hurts is the second-fastest. For Cincinnati’s quarterback, Run & Gun simply buffs his greatest attribute and makes him one of the best in the game. Hurts, on the other hand, can utilize this X-Factor ability to trick defenses on whether or not he’ll take off and run with the ball or heave it downfield.
1 Bazooka
At the end of the day, quarterbacks will big arms are the ones most people talk about. These passers can launch footballs to the moon, while also being able to thread the tiniest window to connect with their receivers.
Having high throwing power doesn’t automatically mean a quarterback is destined for greatness, but it sure helps. Quarterbacks with the Bazooka X-Factor have no problems throwing the ball downfield, as the ability will increase their max throwing distance. The Bazooka X-Factor is given to only the strongest arms in Madden 24 and that’s Patrick Mahomes (99) and Josh Allen (94).
Patrick Mahomes And Josh Allen
While Mahomes is the top overall-rated quarterback in the game, Allen edges him out in strength (80) and throw power (99). Mahomes, a two-time Super Bowl champion, and Allen, the cover athlete of Madden 24, are two of the most gifted passers in the game.
The Bills quarterback prides himself in his ability to launch a pass over 80 yards and Mahomes utilizes his throwing power (97) to complete erratic, off-balanced passes. Bazooka also helps these quarterbacks throw passes faster to receivers because of the power behind the throws. This X-Factor impacts several facets of the passing game which is why it’s the best special ability to have as a quarterback in Madden 24.
