Microsoft has partnered with iFixit to make replacement components for Surface devices available in the Microsoft Store. iFixit had previously collaborated with Logitech for DIY repair purposes.

Expanded Repair Options for Surface Devices

Microsoft is expanding its repair options by making it easier for technically inclined consumers to perform self-repairs on their Surface devices. As part of this initiative, they now offer replacement components for out-of-warranty devices.

Customers can find troubleshooting and repair information, along with a list of available replacement components, service guides, and relevant tools from iFixit.

When purchasing a replacement component, the necessary collateral components will be included, but repair tools are sold separately through iFixit. It is emphasized by the company that it is crucial to adhere to the instructions provided in the relevant Microsoft Service Guide or article.

Repair Options for Microsoft Surface Devices

The Repair Options for Microsoft Surface Service Tools cover a variety of devices including Surface Pro 7, 8, 9, and 9 5G, Surface Laptop 3, 4, and 5, Surface Laptop Go 2, Laptop Studio, and Studio 2+.


Customers in the United States, Canada, and France will initially have the opportunity to purchase replacement components through the Microsoft Store.

Commercial resellers in other Surface markets will have access through their existing channels. Microsoft has also stated that updates regarding availability in additional markets will be provided in due course.
