Apple adds this MacBook model to obsolete product category

According to a report by MacRumors, Apple has officially added the original 12-inch MacBook to its obsolete products list. The addition of the Apple 12-inch MacBook list marks its official end.

What are obsolete Apple products?
Apple explains that “Products are considered obsolete when Apple stopped distributing them for sale more than 7 years ago.” In other words, you don’t get any updates and in addition to that Apple will not repair or service them at all. In fact, even service providers cannot order parts for obsolete products. The company discontinued the original 12-inch MacBook in April 2016 when the company released its second-generation model with upgraded specs. This means that the laptop recently crossed the 7-year mark.

To recall, Apple launched the original 12-inch MacBook in 2015. It is also the first MacBook of the company to come with a fanless design. The laptop packed a 1.1 GHz dual-core Intel Core M processor and had an Intel graphics card. It also packed 8GB of RAM and 256GB SSD space.

The 12-inch MacBook incorporated several significant design elements, including a solitary USB-C port that served the purpose of both charging and data transfer. It also introduced an innovative Force Touch trackpad and featured a terraced battery design, enabling a larger battery capacity to be accommodated within the slim structure of the notebook.
